COUNCIL VACANCY
NOTICE OF INTENT TO FILL CITY COUNCIL VACANCY BY APPOINTMENT
Notice is hereby given that a vacancy does exist for a Council Position for the City of Clarion, Iowa. Council member Nick McOllough has announced his resignation effectively on the 21st of September 2026. In accordance with the Iowa Code Section 372.13.2.a, the Clarion City Council has voted to fill the vacancy by appointment. Said appointment will be made within 60 days after September 15th, 2026, at a Regular Meeting of Clarion City Council. All Regular Meetings convene at 5:00pm in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 121 1st Street SW, Clarion, Iowa. Electors of the City have the right to file a petition requiring that the vacancy be filled by a special election by submitting a valid petition with the Clarion City Clerk within 14 days after the publication of this notice or within 14 days after the appointment is made by the City Council. A valid petition shall meet the requirements as set forth in Iowa Code Section 372.13.2.a.
Eligible electors of the City of Clarion, Iowa residing in the city wanting to be considered for appointment should submit a request in writing to the City Clerk at Clarion City Hall, 121 1st Street SW, Clarion Iowa by 4:00pm Friday October 30th, 2026.
