Permits and Applications

Street Closure Application

135.2: It is unlawful for any person to obstruct, deface or injure any street or alley in any manner. 

135.05: It is unlawful for any person to travel or operate any vehicle on any street or alley temporarily closed by barricades, lights, signs, or flares placed thereon by the authority or permission of any City official, police officer or member of the Fire Department.

Building or Driveway Permit

155.01: It is unlawful within the City to build, remodel, or move into the City any structure or to change the type of occupancy of any dwelling, commercial or industrial structure without first obtaining a permit therefor. 

165.24: No person shall reconstruct or install a driveway or driveway extension unless such person has obtained a permit from the City and has agreed in writing that said reconstruction or installation will comply with all ordinances and requirements of the City for such work.

Peddler's Permit

122.03: Any person engaging in peddling, soliciting or in the business of a transient merchant in the City without first obtaining a license as herein provided is in violation of this chapter. 

122.10: All peddler’s and solicitor’s licenses shall provide that said licenses are in force and effect only between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. 

Hotel/Motel Grant 

125.02: Revenues derived from this tax shall be used as follows:

(1) 75% thereof shall be expended for the promotion and encouragement of tourist and convention business in the City of Clarion, Iowa.

(2) 25% thereof shall be expended for Park and Recreation capital projects within the City of Clarion, Iowa.  Capital projects are defined as projects involving the acquisition or construction of fixed assets, which are of a long-term character and intended for long-term use such as land, buildings, machinery, furniture, and other equipment.
